Helping to shape the future

The UTC brings together the unique combination of major local employers such as Taylor Wimpey, Cisco, Esri UK, McAfee, Buckinghamshire New University and Aylesbury College and in equal partnership. The sponsors contribute to the shaping of our curriculum to support our students gaining a skills-led, motivational, work-related experience which directly improves their employability within the Construction and Computing sectors. It also provides future employers the chance for ‘talent spotting’ and gives an opportunity to trial young people well in advance of them leaving education.

All sponsors commit time to the UTC and we gain from their knowledge, experiences, expertise and commitment to the development of young people on their career journey. All commit significant resources which go a long way to making the curriculum an exciting, bespoke and individual experience.

taylorwimpey‘If you are looking to begin a career in site management or in one of the on-site trades, then Taylor Wimpey could be exactly what you’re looking for in an employer.

We offer paid apprenticeships across site management, carpentry, bricklaying, plumbing and many more. Our apprenticeships are designed to give you the right balance between classroom learning and hands on experience ensuring you are best placed to be offered a permanent opportunity following your studies. Depending on the trade you opt for and your level of experience, an apprenticeship with Taylor Wimpey should be completed in 3-5 years and you would formally qualify with a level 2 or level 3 diploma in a construction related discipline.

Talented apprentices are the future of our production business and we are investing in relationships across the country with schools and colleges. We are the key sponsor for Bucks UTC in Aylesbury and are committed to taking an apprenticeship intake from the college each year into our local sites and business units.’

“Entry level talent is key to the success of our business. Our relationship with Buckinghamshire UTC has allowed us to hire some excellent trades and site management apprentices and enabled a strong pipeline of apprentices for our sites across Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire. We look forward to continuing this relationship” Anne Billson-Ross – Group HR Director.”

We are committed to the development of young people in Bucks. Please see more information about Taylor Wimpey using the links below.

“Bucks UTC is a fantastic organisation – I had not heard of UTCs before so it was quite a surprise to see such an enterprising environment in an educational establishment. There are many attributes that graduate engineers lack (ownership, independence, personal time management, commercial and financial skills etc); which we often spend the first year instilling in them – the Bucks UTC seems to have a firm head start on developing these and will undoubtedly produce a fine crop of well rounded engineers.”
Matthew Richards, Cisco
