Bucks UTC Open Events – This Autumn
Bucks UTC is pleased to announce a series of Open Events throughout Autumn for prospective 2017 Year 10 and Year 12 (Sixth Form) students:
Open Evening: Thursday 6th October, 5-7pm. Our Open Evening serves as a wonderful opportunity to meet our dedicated, industry-experienced educators, to learn more about our specialist, employer-led courses, and to tour our state-of-the-art facilities. The Principal will be speaking at 5pm. This event has now finished.
Saturday 15th October, 10am-12pm. Another brilliant opportunity to meet our dedicated, industry-experienced educators, to learn more about our specialist, employer-led courses, and to tour our state-of-the-art facilities. The principal will be speaking at 10am. This event has now finished.
Meet The Principal: Saturday 12th November, 10am-12pm & once again on Saturday 19th November, 10am-12pm. Meeting our Principal, Tony, is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the way we do things here, such as with our specialist, employer-led curriculum, work-ready approach and our state-of-the-art facilities.
Our Level 3 BTEC results are among the highest in the country, and Level 2 results are continuously improving. The 2015/16 academic year showed our students achieved:
- 20% above the published national average for specialist, Level-3 subjects;
- Over half our Level 3 students receiving entirely Distinction*/Distinction grades;
- 100% pass rate for Computing & Construction Level-3 subjects, and,
- The number of students with 5 A*-C grade GCSEs rose by 15% from the previous year.

Our courses provide insight and exposure to the careers available within Computing and Construction. Our world-leading industry sponsors including Taylor Wimpey, Intel and Cisco, help to shape our curriculum and we work with 30+ local companies who help to provide work experience and placement opportunities, along with employer-led projects, site visits and lectures.

UTCs are a new concept in education, responding to growing demands from the Computing and Construction industries for well-educated, high-calibre employees. We combine the hand and mind to integrate National curriculum requirements with hands-on, employer-led courses.
Bucks UTC offers exciting opportunities for students aged between 14-19. In Years 10 and 11, students can undertake a specialist diploma in a chosen area of interest whilst completing their GCSEs. And in Years 12 and 13 (Sixth Form), learners get the chance to work for a variety of different companies, be it through projects, and/or work experience, whilst having an education that explores all routes of the industry they might wish to progress into.
Our UTC is sponsored by world-industry leaders. Our Computing programme is sponsored by Intel and Cisco, and our Construction programme is sponsored by Taylor Wimpey. This ensures students gain the right skills, motivation and a genuine work-related learning experience to provide them with the best chance of success in securing a career within their respective industries. 30+ local companies also support our programme, providing further learning resources, projects and one-day-a-week placements throughout Sixth-Form studies.
