Drop Everything And Read

Starting on Monday 14th September

Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) is exactly what it sounds like! It is a call to action for people to stop what they are doing to read a book for 15 minutes. Bucks UTC will lead the first Drop Everything and Read movement on Monday 14th September 2020 and all students and staff will take part.

Even if you are not a reader for any reason, it is a great opportunity to further role model for our students’ young and enquiring minds. There are so many reasons to get involved!

Why do it?

  • It is quick and easy – all you need is something to read and 15 minutes

  • You can read anything! Books, comics, newspapers, and magazines – whatever takes your fancy

  • Be part of the movement to Get Bucks UTC Reading

  • Regular reading is key to improving literacy levels and research shows that reading for as little as 15 minutes every day has an important impact on how well a child does at school

  • Reading every day is beneficial to mental wellbeing and happiness – evidence shows that reading can help people to relax, relieves stress and improves empathy

  • It is important for adults to be reading role models for the children in their lives

  • Most importantly – IT’S FUN!
