Ofsted say – Teachers have strong subject knowledge and often provide well-focused additional help on a one-to-one basis for students.

Teachers’ well-developed understanding of course requirements enables them to accurately access students’ work and provide helpful feedback.

Our students study GCSEs, just like at other schools. However, they also get an opportunity to earn technical qualifications in our specialist areas of computing and construction. There is also an opportunity to gain extra qualifications, such as Cisco Networking Certifications.

At Bucks UTC we engage with the community, putting our students’ technical skills into practice. We frequently run projects to support local charities and other causes, giving our students further opportunity to test themselves whilst providing value to those we work with.

Ofsted say – The careers programme gives pupils the opportunity to reflect on, and discuss, their wide and varied experiences of work and use them to make informed choices.

Students express themselves articulately, and benefit from their discussions with other students. Their conversations often focus on how they can learn better, showing their positive attitudes to the education they receive at the UTC.

Through well-planned work placements, employer-led projects and work experience, students are well prepared for the world of work. They benefit from, and value, the learning about life gained from their time spent working closely with employers on placements.

Ofsted say – Of particular note is the effective careers support and guidance which the UTC provides.

Following effective careers advice and guidance, students have well-developed knowledge about the opportunities available to them, and the vast majority progress to employment and apprenticeships, or higher-level study.
