Bucks UTC Students offered apprenticeships with Network Rail
Bucks UTC has formed a partnership with Network Rail, who will offer its construction students the opportunity to apply for three year apprenticeships. Network Rail
employs over 35,000 people in the UK, who help maintain, manage and improve their rail infrastructure. It offers one of the premier apprenticeships in the country, recruiting over 200 apprentices each year. Students will study for BTEC and NVQs in engineering, as well as the Institute of Leadership & Management programme.
Bev Flanagan, Principal of Bucks UTC, said: “What a fantastic opportunity for our young people. Network Rail will also be running some very interesting projects with our students, who will also have the chance to visit their residential training centre in Portsmouth.
As our partnership grows, Network Rail will provide students with mentoring and work experience opportunities; giving our students first-hand exposure to the industry and workplace environment.”
Year 1 apprentices spend their first year living and learning at Europe’s largest engineering training facility in Portsmouth and the next two years working from a depot local to home. Specialising in Electrification & Plant, Overhead Lines, Signalling, Telecoms or Track, students receive expert training with hands-on projects and dedicated support to ensure they gain skills that could set them up for life.
