Undoubtedly, the exciting specialism of Computing is an excellent opportunity to investigate how computers work and how they are used, and to develop computer programming and problem solving skills. This is coupled with the fact that Bucks UTC has world class employer partners in the Computing. Moreover, be inspired by these employers who help develop the curriculum and influence what we teach to our students. Consequently, this improves students’ employability and transferable skills. Secondly, all sponsors support the UTC, providing guidance to students plus information about career paths, skills and knowledge. We also offer opportunities for progression, placements and employment.

Computing Specialism

Today, students choosing Computing study three Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate courses.

  • Creative Digital Media Production

This especially focuses the holistic development of the practical, interpersonal and thinking skills required to be able to succeed in employment and higher education. In essence, each BTEC is worth the equivalent of one A level. Therefore if you study Computing at Bucks UTC you can gain equivalent of 3 ‘A’  levels.

Most compelling evidence, BTECs embody a fundamentally learner-centred approach to the curriculum, with a flexible, unit-based structure and knowledge applied in project-based assessments. Further more, Bucks UTC know Employers are looking for recruits with a thorough grounding in the latest industry requirements and work-ready skills such as teamwork. Higher education needs students who have experience of research, extended writing and meeting deadlines.

In addition, each BTEC has a clear purpose and something to suit each student’s study programme. Exciting assessments and projects are chosen to help the students progress to their chosen destinations. importantly, BTEC National qualifications provide a broad introduction that gives our students transferable knowledge and skills,  who want to continue their education through applied learning. The qualifications prepare students for a range of higher education courses and job roles related to a particular sector. Each extended certificate demonstrates the equivalent to an ‘A’ level in it’s own right.
